This week I attended one of the biggest IT exhibitions in the UK, IPEXPO. There were lots of interesting technologies and trends on the day that I wanted to put into one place for anyone that couldn't make it.
As we are all aware cyber-crime is more intelligent and frequent than ever before and one thing that was clear as soon as you stepped into the exhibition is that people are worried about their business security. The Cyber Security area of the hall was extremely busy with vendor stands crowded and break-out sessions full.
One thing I found interesting from this area was BitDefender's new technology to prevent existing ransomware from encrypting, their 'Anti-Ransomware Vaccine'.
Bitdefender’s Anti-Ransomware Vaccine works by exploiting flaws in the ransomware’s method of spreading, and manages to stop it from encrypting. The solution works in combination with any existing endpoint protection, and acts as a last line of defence against ransomware that manages to slip by the other protection layers, even if the dropper is unknown. The benefits of the vaccine are:
- PREVENTIVE ANTI-RANSOMWARE DEFENSE.
- WORKS FOR KNOWN AND EVEN SOME UNKNOWN RANSOMWARE.
- COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR SECURITY SOLUTION.
- LAST LINE OF DEFENSE
- ZERO ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE IMPACT.
Another aspect of the show I found interesting was the virtualisation area. Although not as in demand as the security side, the vendors are changing the game to improve the administrator and business experience with their virtualised environments. I spent some time with Nimble Storage's Nick Dyer learning about their was Inforsight Predictive Analysis tool.
InfoSight predicts and prevents issues across the application-to-storage stack as it collects and analyses data every four hours from the customer arrays. It enables you to avoid disruption and time wasted dealing with infrastructure problems.
