[Video Interview] Disaster Recovery and Continuous Data Protection with Veeam

Recently, Barry Coombs, ComputerWorld Director and George Kenny, SE at Veeam discussed Veeam's biggest product, 'Veeam backup and replication'.

With the increasing threats that all businesses now face, there is an increased need to ensure that your data is safe. Whilst many people believe that if they have anti-virus and a firewall they are safe, there is always a possibility of either a malicious attack or a natural disaster (fire) disrupting your business and possibly losing hours if not all your data. Businesses of all sizes should have a disaster recovery plan in place should they unfortunately encounter a disaster.

Veeam specifically recommends having a minimum of a 3-2-1 backup strategy.

  • 3 copies of your data
  • On at least 2 different types of media
  • With at least 1 copy off-site

Barry and George discuss the importance of knowing your businesses RPO (how much data you are able to lose) and RTO (how long it will take you to recover that data) and how these factors are becoming more critical resulting in businesses replicating their data.

Barry and George also discuss Veeam's version 10 release that is due to GA later this year, included within the new release is the new continuous data protection funcitionality that will allow you to reduce the RPO for you data.
