VMworld 2018 - Day 1

Today was the first day of VMworld 2018 and what a start to the week it was! Our day was kicked off with a private chat with Shawn Bass, CTO of EUC, VMware about the VMware vision and strategy to bridge the gap between user demands and IT abilities to deliver. Shawn discussed how Workspace ONE allows the users to access their desired applications whilst IT still having complete control over the apps and data on any device within one centralised platform.

We then broke off to attend the breakout sessions of our choice. My highlight from the breakout sessions was the images highlighting that whilst the journey to digital transformation may not always be easy, the benefits at the end of it are more than worth it!

We then had the partner general session where it was great to hear from the leaders within VMware, such as Pat Gelsinger that partners, such as ComputerWorld are helping shape the future of VMware and ultimately the future of IT. Pat discussed that  we now use it in so many aspects in our life, so much so that tech is breaking out of tech. Pat also discussed that we are now in an era of technology superpowers. These super powers being:

  • Cloud

  • Mobile

  • AI and Machine Learning

  • IoT

I am extremely excited for the general session tomorrow and of course more in depth breakout sessions and I look forward to sharing it all with you on Twitter (@BizTechMeg) and here on Define Tomorrow!

In this video, Megan from ComputerWorld summarises her key take away's from the first day of VMworld 2018.

I also like to summarise key messages live during the day with my snapshot images. Take a look at my snapshots from Day 1 below!
