Topic Suggestions

Now that Microsoft Viva Topics has been running for two weeks, I am getting many more suggested topics. After a week, I had received 3 or 4 suggested topics. I now have had probably over 100 topics that have been suggested to me. When a topic is suggested, you can choose whether you wish to confirm or remove the suggestion within the suggested topic section in Topic Center.

Editing and Publishing a Topic

After confirming a topic they aren’t published to the rest of your organisation at this point. You will need to visit the Manage Topics tab (1) within the Topic Centre. From here select the confirmed (2) option to see all the topics that have been confirmed. You are now in a position to review the topics, edit the topic pages and publish (3).

For some of the topics that have been suggested you may find that an initial description has been imported from Wikipedia as you can see below (4). Whether you choose to keep this description or add your own will come back to the question of what you want to achieve with Microsoft Viva Topics within your organisation.

Whilst editing the topic you can choose to pin the most relevant people (5) where appropriate, further down the page you can do the same with suggested files & pages, as well as sites, finally you can create a connection between topics. Finally, you will want to publish the page (6)

Conclusion

I am feeling after two weeks Microsoft Viva Topics is fully up to speed and running as intended. I will monitor for any specific changes over the next week before starting to consider my configuration best practices. Undoubtedly with the intelligent nature of the product, you will want to be carefully considering exactly what you want to achieve prior to jumping in too far.

Check back next week for a further update including my recommendations for deploying Microsoft Topics within your organisation.
